Indian Languages and Scripts
- India or Indian sub-continent languages are born with same sound for their scripts.
- All the languages even though having same sound for the letters but having different type of letters for their language. Because of this by seeing it self you can identify the language of script. This is main difference between other languages / scripts where the identification of the language is not easy.
- Except Tamil all other Indian languages are having 50+ letters which makes it difficult for text editing in digital mediums.
- The solution for Indian languages in text editing should be different because of the larger number of letters and if there is a solution found it can be a solution for the other families of languages because of having lesser number of alphabet.
Birth of Indian Languages
As per our Vedas the Creator (Lord Shiva) has created the sound from his Dammaru. These sound became the base for Indian Languages. All Indian Languages differed by appearance but United by the sound.
The following is the Sloka to mention,

Digital Revolution and Mother Tongue
- To enjoy the fullest benefit of Digital Revolution it should be possible for Voice and Text Communication.
- Text Communication in the mother tongue will give fullest benefit.
- In Indian languages text communication is very difficult.
Present Situation
During our Patent process we were provided several references for our clarification where either for English or through English (Transliteration method) and none of the references were out of English. i.e. if it is digital it should be in English.
We pointed out this to the Comptroller General of Patent India and why not a solution for Indian Languages through Indian Language it self. i.e. typing Mother Tongue in their mother tongue itself. The Comptroller General of Patent India accepted our points.
Only one third of the population knows English to read and write and only half of this population knows transliteration method. This minimal population can be called as Digital Elite Population and the rest are not fully enjoying this revolution.
Digital Divide
Indian Languages except Tamil are having 50+ letters which makes difficult for text editing in digital mediums because like earlier pointed out, mostly developed for English or through English. A new concept which can accommodate all the letters of Indian Languages in digital mediums and should be Easy to Type.
Knowing English is a pre condition for text communication is dividing most of the population from the Digital Elite. This divide should be if not eradicated should be reduced.
Our effort Easy Typing Solution (ETS) is in this direction.
Text Editing in Indian Languages – A Simple Approach
Indian Languages are fully phonetic and having 50+ alphabets. The structure of Indian languages with combination of vowels and consonants. Text editing are in 3 digital mediums namely Systems, Smart & Button Mobiles. In Systems the same keyboard i.e. QWERTY is in operation. Indian Languages which have 50+ alphabets finding difficult in text editing. The Smart Mobiles which have smaller screen space for accommodating 50+ letters made the size of the alphabets smaller. Like wise Button Mobiles which have only 9 buttons to accommodate 50+ is still the most difficult for text editing.
Text editing will be easier,
- When Key / Button / Space size in smart mobiles is synchronized with your finger size.
- The arrangement of alphabets are easier to memorize.
- The arrangement / Chart should be easier for finger movement.
- Their should be a unique method of arrangement of letters for all digital mediums.
In QWERTY keyboard to type Indian Languages nearly 50% of letters requires a Shift + Alphabets i.e. 2 strokes. To learn typing Indian Languages in this QWERTY keyboard requires 250 to 300 hours learning.
There are many applications in smart mobiles but the user finding it difficult because the size of the alphabet is not synchronized with his finger.
Many strokes you require to get an alphabet in the button mobile.
These are all the problems faced by Indians to type their mother tongue. The digital firms provides many applications to type their mother tongue through English. i.e. Transliteration method.
Many approaches are made with the present method of QWERTY or Typing That letter to get That letter. When the size is portable and accommodating 50+ you require a different approach.
